The Life of the Nickness

“You’ll Love this when I’m Famous”

Wow

Where should I begin?!?!? There is so much to tell, and I haven’t written in so long and my weekend isn’t even over!
Hmm, to start off, 2 people quit on Saturday from Micron. Great. Now it’ll be more work for me. Odium Generis Humani, Odium Generis Humani, Odium Generis Humani–that is my mantra. hehehe. But Sunday made up for Saturday–I ended up going to Ashburn to visit a church (Grace Community Church) Wow it was awesome! Everyone was really friendly, and I actually talked with people! Those of you who know me know I hardly ever talk, so the fact that I was actually talking about random stuff with people tells you how nice and friendly the people at this church were. Also, the worship and the preaching was awesome! I am so going back, and I’m going to see if Mel, Jonathan, and Mom want to come with me.(Hopefully they will, its way awesome!)
Well, after church I ended up going to a picnic with Rhema and her family. It didn’t end til 6:15 in the evening, and I was introduced to the best pizza in the entire world–Leedo’s Pizza! I am def. going to be driving up just to order this stuff. Sounds kooky, but yeah… wow it was good. Oh, and ofcourse at the picnic Rhema and I talked more(yay for conversing) and we made idle chit chat with the adults in her parents’ caregroup(think small church group, but with a different name) After that I took Rhema, Daniel(one of her brothers) and Leah(one of her sisters) back to their house and we all just kinda chilled on the computer and walked around outside(they have a pool! I want a pool!) and ate buttered biscuits with ham for dinner. It was way fun. Plus, I tried tickling Rhema and she like, jumped to get away from me, ended up tripping over a chair and falling. It sounds really bad, but it was mad funny, and no one was hurt. I ended up leaving their house about 10:30pm and getting back to Manassas about 11:30. Her dad drew me a map/wrote instructions down on how to get back. hes a cool guy. And, he gives awesome instructions.(that’s always a plus)
That was pretty much it for Sunday–today I mainly cleaned my room(major cleaning, I tell you–my room was like a hazmat zone) and listened to the 2 Cds Rhema burned for me, and played with Toby and Tiffany. Toby is…. getting weaker. I don’t know if I told any of you, but we took him to the vet and he has some disease that affects the feeling in his body. Right now its only in his back legs, but eventually, it’ll completely overtake him. We have medicine to make Him feel better and give him ‘good’ days, but theres no cure. The only thing we can do is love him as much as we can until he is gone. And no one has any clue how long that will be, but I hope its a very long, long time. Whats sad though is he doesn’t know hes sick–he still acts like the puppy he always has been. I try to spend as much time with him as I can. Its going to be hard for me once hes gone–hes been my best friend for like, God only knows how many years(no laughing, I love my dog)
Ack, ok–I need to end this on a happy note—ummm 2 days til Spiderman 2!! Yay! I can’t go to the first showing at 12:01am on Wednesday Morning(or Tuesday night, however you look at it) but I will be going to the 10am showing on Wednesday morning, along with a bunch of other people! I can’t wait! Ack! Yay for excitement!

My day so far

Well, I just got back home from chillin with Levi for the afternoon. I met up with him at 5pm, and we drove to Leesburg to surprise my new friend Rhema(Who I am NOT attached to, LOL) We chilled at her work for a little over an hour, I gave her back her book I borrowed, along with a CD I burned for her. Hopefully we were able to entertain her for a bit while there was no customers in the store.
After that we were going to go home, but changed our minds and went to Dulles Town Center so Levi could shop around. Eventually, we ended up at Hot Topic, and he bought some stuff (I would have got stuff too, except I have no money) Yay for Invader Zim, Happy Tree Friends, Happy Bunny, and cool pink Barbie hats!
Then, when we were driving back home, Bethany called and wanted to know if we wanted to meet up at TGIF. I didn’t want to, but I had no problem dropping Levi off. So…. I dropped Levi off at TGIF so he could wait for Bethany and her friends, and I drove home. Once I got home–yay for chicken sandwiches(I was starving like, all day)
Yes, I know it sounds fairly boring, but it was really really fun! In fact, the past 5 days off have been awesome, and I’m kinda sad that I have to go back to work tomorrow, but hey–yay for the money, right?

The Man without a Face

Years ago a hardworking man took his family from New York State to Australia to take advantage of a work opportunity there. Part of this man's family was a handsome son who had aspirations of joining the circus as a trapeze artist or an actor. This young fellow, biding his time until a circus job or even as a stagehand came along, worked at the local shipyards which bordered on the worse section of town.

Walking home from work one evening, this young man was attacked by
five thugs who wanted to rob him. Instead of just giving up his money
the young fellow resisted. However they bested him easily and
proceeded to beat him To a pulp.

They mashed his face with their boots, and kicked and beat his body Brutally with clubs, leaving him for dead. When the police happened to find him Lying in the road they assumed he was dead and called for the Morgue Wagon.

On the way to the morgue, a policeman heard him gasp for air, and they
immediately took him to the emergency unit at the hospital.

When he was placed on a gurney, a nurse remarked to her horror, that
this young man no longer had a face. His eye socket was smashed, his
skull, legs and arms fractured, his nose literally hanging from his face, all his Teeth were gone, and his jaw was almost completely torn from his skull.

Although his life was spared, he spent over a year in the hospital.
When he finally left, his body may have healed but his face was disgusting to
look at. He was no longer the handsome youth that everyone admired.
When the young man started to look for work again, he was turned down
by everyone just on account of the way he looked. One potential
employer suggested to him that he join the freak show at the circus as
“The man who had no face.”
And he did this for a while. He was still rejected by everyone and no
one wanted to be seen in his company. He had thoughts of suicide. This
went on for 5 years.

One day he passed a church and sought some solace there. Entering the
church he encountered a priest who had seen him sobbing while kneeling
in a pew. The priest took pity on him and took him to the rectory where
they talked at length. The priest was impressed with him to such a
degree that he said that he would do everything possible for him that could be done
to restore his dignity and life, if the young man would promise to be
the best Catholic he could be, and trust in God's mercy to free him from his
torturous life.

The young man went to Mass and Communion every day, and after thanking
God for saving his life, asked God to only give him peace of mind and
the grace to be the best man he could ever be in His eyes.

The priest, through his personal contacts was able to secure the
services Of the best plastic surgeon in Australia. There would be no cost to the young man, as the doctor was the priest's best friend. The doctor too was so impressed by the young man, whose outlook now on
life, even though he had experienced the worst, was filled with good humor and
love.

The surgery was a miraculous success. All th e best dental work was
also done for him. The young man became everything he promised God he would be.

He was also blessed with a wonderful, beautiful wife, and many
children, and success in an industry, which would have been the furthest thing from his mind as a career, if not for the goodness
of God and the love of the people who cared for him. This he acknowledges publicly.

The young man was and is…….Mel Gibson.

His life was the inspiration for his production of the movie “The Man
Without A Face.”

Tax cuts - How they really work

Sometimes Politicians can exclaim; “It's just a tax cut for the rich!”, and it is just accepted to be fact. But what does that really mean? Just in case you are not completely clear on this issue, we hope the following will help. Please share this with your friends as you see fit.

Tax Cuts - A Simple Lesson In Economics

This is how the cookie crumbles. Please read it carefully.

Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100.

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh $7.
The eighth $12.
The ninth $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.

“Since you are all such good customers,” he said, “I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20.”

So, now dinner for the ten only cost $80. The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes.

So, the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six, the paying customers? How could they divvy up the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share'?

The six men realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being 'PAID' to eat their meal.

So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man “but he got $10!”

“Yeah, that's right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!”

“That's true!!” shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!”

“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!” The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up at the table anymore. There are lots of good restaurants in Europe and the Caribbean.

Lets keep it Interesting……

I keep changing my Livejournal theme. I think I've found one I can live with for a while. I think the background picture is way cool! Once again, it's a character from Naruto.
Zabuza.. an early character who ends up dying. it's actually quite sad, even though he was a 'bad guy.'
I am thinking about doing something different with my livejournal for a little while. I hardly ever post anymore. ANyone have any suggestions on stuff I can do to still keep it interesting?

June 14

well, today would have been my two year anniversary with breena if she hadn’t divorced me.
right now I have no life and am single.
I’m not depressed about it, just surprised by where my life has ended up.
I need a drink–where the heck is my after shock?!?!
anyone wanna go do anything tonight? call my cell(703-901-4730) or send me a message on AIM–I have this cool thing now where all my IMs get forwarded to my cell phone if I’m away from the computer–how cool is that?!?!?

this is way cool

A rainbow woke me up this morning. Red blood rushing through my body. Orange flowers blossoming in the morning. Yellow sun rising over our bodies. Green grass grabbing our feet as we dance. Blue sky over our shoulders, bringing us closer to heaven. Indigo and violet dreams sweeping us into each other's arms. You make every color brighter, every smell and taste sweeter and more intense. Your aura infiltrates into my soul. You are my beautiful inspiration. You are my rainbow.

I love romantic stuff like that

some quotes from my old friend Homer…

“And how is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home wine-making course and I forgot how to drive”

AND

“Trying is the first step towards failure”

The 'Homer' I speak about is of course Homer Simpson. I'm not a freak fan of the show, but I will admit some of the one-liners are funny.
Heres my results of a fun quiz I found.

Enzyme
You are an Enzyme! You are powerful, dark,
variable, and can change many things at your
whim…even when they're not supposed to be
changed. Bad you. You can be dangerous or
wonderful; it's your choice.

Another John Donne…

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is piece of the continent,
a part of the main… any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind;
and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee

Passionate Situations…

Have you ever been so passionate about a situation that has nothing to do with you? It's been a while since I posted. Mainly because for the past two days, I've been supporting my brother while he gets a divorce from his wife. I've been going over to his apartment and staying with him, and being a part of the 'talks' so that he won't feel like people(his soon to be ex, her sister, and some guy) are ganging up on him. I was supposed to go over there tonight as well.
However, tonight was going to be the night that the two of them(well, ok, the five of us) sat down and had Sierra and JB go through the Marital Separation Agreement(which they got for free thanks to all the cool stuff I kept after my divorce.) Sounds like a plan, right? Wrong. Well, depends on how you look at it. My brother is a really great and really nice guy. Her, on the other hand…um..isn't so nice. Well, my brother has decided to give her lots and lots of money (think more than 5000$) in the marital separation agreement. And that's just from what hes told my family. Once they go through the agreement, theres a very strong possibility he'll give her more. The issue? They've ONLY been married for 7 MONTHES. Hes 19, and shes 18. In a court of law any kind of alimony payments(well, ok, they call it spousal support in VA) would be laughed at. Sure she has a kid–a kid that's not his, he didn't adopt, and whom she'll still get child support every month from the real father–so that's not an issue. Trust me, I've checked.
I don't think its right, I know he feels guilty about divorcing her and he wants to make her happy, but he wanted me to go over there tonight and keep my mouth shut while he pretty much gets screwed over royally–and that's all his choice too. She hasn't even told him what she wants yet. All that money has been his decision. Why do I care, you ask? Good question. I wish I knew. I gave him the program he needed for the Marital Separation Agreement, but told him I couldn't go over there. There is NO WAY I could have gone over there(even with the best intentions) and kept my mouth shut while she took him for WAY more than: A–she deserves, and B–she'd ever get in court. I remember my favorite SAT word–Acquiescence. To agree by not disagreeing (i.e., silent agreement). I'm not doing that. It's not that I won't. It's that I can't. I've tried keeping quiet about stuff before. Doesn't work. It's my curse, I guess.
So I've decided to just butt out. Jonathan's told us(meaning my family and I) more than once tonight that this was HIS divorce. So we're going to let him do it. Up until now, I had been giving him advice(good advice, btw, all advice that the lawyer eventually told him as well) But I'm going to stop. I don't know why this has me all emotionally charged up. My mom says it's because hes my brother and I don't want to see him get screwed over. I think it's more that he's my brother and he wanted me to watch him willingly get screwed over–and be quiet about it. Bah. Since when have I ever been quiet about anything? LOL. So yeah. Back to my question. Anyone ever felt so passionate about a situation that had nothing to do with you? I've given my answer. Now you give yours. (make me feel better, lol!)

time to waste some time

I'm listening to Bohemian Rhapsody right now. Mike Myers…. yay. LOL
oh, that reminds me. I finally saw Shrek2. Decided not to wait anymore, and went to see it. One of my favorite lines…

donkey-say something crazy, like you're wearing women's underwear!
Pinocchio–I'm wearing women's underwear
(nothing happens)
donkey- are you wearing women's underwear?
pinoco-I most absolutely am not!
(nose grows)
donkey-you ARE wearing women's underwear!
Pinocchio–I am not!
(nose grows some more)
donkey–What kind?
gingerbread man–(going to look) its a thong! its a thong!

OK, one more line set from the movie…
(guards pushing Puss up against a wall, pulling out a plastic baggie)
Knight-Hmm, what do we have here? Catnip?
Puss- Um… that's. not. mine.

I'm going to go see it again soon. Wow is it good. Anyone wanna join me? Call my cell, post a comment, or email me.
As you can tell, I am very bored right now. I slept in late, then woke up and started talking to my brother online. Now its about 1:30pm and I am 'waiting' for my day to start. LOL.

I figure I might as well post the lyrics to another *fav* song of mine. It's called “Letters From War” and it's by Mark Schultz.
It's one of those songs that start off nice, but you can't help but get a wee bit teary-eyed when the climactic part comes in.

She ran to the mailbox
On that bright summer day
Found a letter from her son
In a war far away

He spoke of the weather
And good friends that he'd made
Said I'd been thinking 'bout dad
And the life that he had
That's why I'm here today
And at the end he said
You are what I'm fighting for
It was the first of the letters from war

She started writing
(Chorus)
Your good and your brave
What a father that you'll be someday
Bring him home
Bring him safe

She wrote every night as she prayed

Late in December
A day she'll not forget
Oh her tears stained the paper
With every word that she read

It said “I was up on a hill
I was out there alone
When the shots all rang out
And bombs were exploding
And that's when I saw him
He came back to me
And though he was captured
A man set me free
And that man was your son

He asked me to write to you
I told him I would oh I swore”

It was the last of the letters from war

And she prayed he was living
Kept on believing and wrote every night just to say

(Chorus)

Then two years later
Autumn leaves all around
A car pulled in the driveway
And she fell to the ground
And out stepped a captain
Where her boy used to stand

He said “mom I'm following orders
From all of your letters
And I've come home again”
He ran in to hold her
And dropped all his bags on the floor
Holding all of her letters from war

Well, my mom just got back from going shopping. I might as well help her unload and put the stuff away. Call me if you want to save me from my so called life.

On a lighter note, today I was described as approachable and non repulsive. I think that's a good thing.
